Ripley Patient & Visitor Information

The circumstances that bring patients to our hospital may be varied and many. The goal of our staff is to make the patient's stay as comfortable as possible. Please let our staff know if there is anything more we can do to achieve that goal. Following are some basic information and rules of the hospital:

  • Visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • After hours, 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., visitors are allowed only through the secured North door. Ring bell and wait to be reviewed on camera by staff, then you will be admitted through the electronic doors by hospital staff.
  • No visitors under the age of 12, please. Patients may visit with children in the lobby.
  • Visitors with colds, sore throats or other contagious illness within 48 hours may be restricted.
  • Shoes must be worn by patients at all times when ambulating. This reduces risks of infection and slipping.
  • No shoes, no shirt, no service, is a hospital policy which applies to all guests.
  • Disruptive, loud and/or belligerent visitors will be asked to leave. Local law enforcement may be called if necessary.
  • As a patient you have certain rights and may designate your visitors which may include spouse, family members, domestic partner (including same-sex), or friend. You also have the right to withdraw or deny such consent at any time.
  • Under certain circumstances visitors may be asked to leave the patient room for patient care or procedures, etc. Staff will inform you when you may return. The hospital can restrict or set limits on visitor access to the patient based upon reasonable clinical circumstances. At no time will restrictions or denial be based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability.
  • Please send any money or valuables home with family members. If you are unable to do so, those items may be locked up in the hospital safe and accessed during regular office hours. The hospital will not be responsible for valuables left at the bedside.
  • Meals are served on the following schedule:

                                      Breakfast: 7:30 a.m.

                                      Lunch:12:30 p.m.

                                      Dinner: 5:30 p.m.

                                      Bedtime snack: 9:00 p.m.

Other snacks may be requested throughout the day or night, if your diet (as ordered by a physician) allows. Some snacks may also be purchased from the vending machines. Please check with nursing to verify whether a desired snack is allowed on your diet.

  • Guests may buy meals from our kitchen at a reasonable price. Meals may be taken with patients in their rooms, if approved by nursing, or in the hospital cafeteria. If possible, notify the Dietary Department in advance if you would like to purchase meals. This helps us to provide an appropriate amount of food. The dining room of the kitchen is located in the basement, at the end of the east hallway.
  • Smoking is not permitted on the hospital campus. Smoking is prohibited inside the facility, outside the buildings, as well as in the parking areas. The hospital is complying with State law in creating a healthy environment. Cooperation is expected from visitors, patients and employees. Patients who are smokers may be offered counseling, nicotine replacement therapy, or other assistance and will be informed of the risk to their health. Smoking is counter-productive to medical treatment. If all attempts to assist you in not smoking have been unsuccessful, and after reviewing with your doctor your decision to leave the hospital  “Against Medical Advice,” you will be asked to sign a release informing you that a patient stay may not be covered by insurance when leaving “Against Medical Advice” and that any patient that has signed out and left the facility “Against Medical Advice”, may, if they believe their condition is serious and requires immediate treatment, return to the hospital through the Emergency Department. They will not be re-admitted directly to the patient floor.
