SoutheastHEALTH Assists with American Heart Association HeartWalk

The 2013 American Heart Association HeartWalk will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Osage Centre. SoutheastHEALTH is an event sponsor. HealthPoint Offers Mini Munchkin Camp for Kids

Children, ages 2 to 5, will enjoy a morning of fun with games, music, craft, activity and more at the HealthPoint Mini Munchkin Camp.The camp will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at HealthPoint – Cape and Tuesday, Feb. 19, at HealthPoint – Jackson.Cost is $15 per child for HealthPoint members and $20 per child for non-members. Diabetes Support Group to Focus on ‘Taking Care of Your Heart’

The Diabetes Self-Management Support Group will focus on “Taking Care of Your Heart” at its meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 1 to 2 p.m. at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau.Debbie Leoni, MSA, RN, director of Cardiac Outreach, will present information on specialty services offered by the Southeast Heart Center. Mended Hearts to Hold 17th Annual Banquet on Feb. 12

The Southeast Heart Center will hold its 17th annual Mended Hearts Appreciation banquet on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. in Southeast Hospital’s Harrison Room.The program will focus on the “DASH Diet,” which will be presented by Colette Banda, RD, LD, and Sara Kaiser, dietetic intern with SoutheastHEALTH Food & Nutrition Services. Southeast Offers Support Group for Weight-Loss Surgery Patients

Have you undergone or are you considering bariatric weight-loss surgery? If so, the Bariatric Support Group at Southeast Hospital can help.The group meets monthly. The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16, from 10 to 11:15 a.m. at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau. Healthy Cooking Class to Feature Favorite Dishes of American Presidents

Favorite dishes of American presidents will be featured at the Healthy Cooking class at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau on Monday, Feb. 18. The class will be held from 6 to 7:15 p.m.Join HealthPoint Nutritional Services Coordinator Raina Childers, MS, RD, LD, for some healthy food, presidential trivia and a lot of fun. Southeast Journeys Cancer Support Group to Focus on ‘Discussing Your Cancer’

Southeast Journeys Cancer Support Group will focus on “Discussing Your Cancer with Family, Friends & Your Healthcare Team” on Tuesday Feb. 26. The group will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Unity Room at the Southeast Cancer Center in Cape Girardeau.Sheri House, MSW, will present the program. The support group covers educational topics from the American Cancer Society’s “I Can Cope” series. Southeast Weight Management Center to Hold Informational Session

Southeast Weight Management Center will hold a free informational session on Tuesday, Feb. 26, to explain both surgical and non-surgical, weight-loss options.Ryan A. LeGrand, MD, of the Weight Management Center will discuss the various options. The hour-and-a-half session will be held at HealthPoint – Cape, starting at 5:30 p.m. Obesity is a leading cause of preventable illness and death in the United States.
