Southeast Hospice Seeks Volunteers to Comfort Terminally Ill Patients and Their Families

You can make a difference in the lives of terminally ill patients and their families by joining the Southeast Hospice team. The team provides care, understanding and appreciation of terminally ill patients and their families.

Healthy Cooking Class to Showcase ‘Mighty Meatless Meals’

You can create healthy, meatless meals for your family. Join HealthPoint Nutritional Services Coordinator Raina Childers, MS, RD, LD, for her “Mighty Meatless Meals” class and learn how blends of other protein-rich foods can provide delicious fare.

The Healthy Cooking class will be held on Monday, April 15, from 6 to 7:15 p.m. at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau. Cost is $3 for members and $5 for nonmembers. Call 573-986-4440 to register for this class or register online.

HealthPoint –Jackson to Host Health & Fitness Fair on April 20

Children will enjoy plenty of fun activities at the Kids Extravaganza Health & Fitness Fair on Saturday, April 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Southeast HealthPoint Fitness in Jackson.

The event is free for kids, ages 2 to 12. The fair will include a wide range of activities, including face painting and a bounce house, as well as hands-on nutrition and information on summer camps. A Kids’ Fun Run will be held at 10:15 a.m.

HealthPoint Fitness to Offer Free Self-Defense Sessions for Women

A free self-defense class for women and girls, 9 years of age and older, will be offered at HealthPoint – Jackson on Saturday, April 20.

Two, hour-long sessions will be held. The class will be offered at 9 and 10 a.m. Black-belt instructor Doug Johnson of Moo Sul Kwan Martial Arts will conduct the sessions.

Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably for movement. Call 573-755-2301 to register for the class.

Southeast Offers Support Group for Weight-Loss Surgery Patients

Have you undergone or are you considering bariatric weight-loss surgery? If so, SoutheastHEALTH’s Bariatric Support Group can help.

The group meets monthly. The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau. The sessions cover a variety of topics including medical management, meal planning and nutrition, behavior change and motivation, and exercise and fitness.

Outback Steakhouse Helps Foundation Support Southeast Share Program

Grab your mates and enjoy a special buffet at Outback Steakhouse in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday, April 24, to support SoutheastHEALTH’s Share program, which supports families who have experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death.

The buffet will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person. Carryout or delivery orders will be available on Thursday, April 25.

HealthPoint Fitness to Host Kickin’ for Cardiac

Students of Moo Sul Kwan Martial Arts will demonstrate their kicking skills at Kickin’ for Cardiac on Saturday, April 27, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau.

Donations of any amount or pledges per kick in a 15-second challenge will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit cardiac services at Southeast Hospital.

Southeast SportsCare to Provide Free Athletic Injury Screenings

Southeast SportsCare will provide athletic injury screenings on Monday mornings at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau, beginning April 29.
