SoutheastHEALTH, SportsCare Seek to ‘Strike Out Stroke’


SoutheastHEALTH and Southeast SportsCare want you to help “Strike Out Stroke” at two exciting baseball games in May during National Stroke Awareness Month.

Local stroke survivors will throw out the first pitch. Fans will hear about the warning signs of stroke and catch beach towels and other promotional items.

The “Strike Out Stroke” activities will take place at the Jackson High School baseball game at Herzog Field in Jackson on Wednesday, May 8, at 4:15 PM and the Southeast Missouri State University baseball game at Capaha Park in Cape Girardeau on Friday, May 10, at 5 PM Stroke survivor Ron Greaser of Cape Girardeau will throw out the first pitch at the Jackson game and Margaret Kain of Jackson will throw out the first pitch at Capaha Park.

Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death and the number one cause of adult disability. Most people assume that stroke only happens to older people. But stroke can happen to anyone no matter your age, gender or race.
