Vickie Schnurbusch has been named Administrator of Home Care Services. She succeeds Sheila Beussink who is returning to the inpatient setting full time as Director of Maternal-Child Services.
Chief Nursing Officer Judy Aslin said Vickie is recognized for providing excellent care to her patients. “I have worked with Vickie since 1986 when I was a new RN and she was an LPN. Vickie was always extremely organized and could work circles around most others. I later worked with her in Hospice and saw that she carried the same work ethic and passion for quality patient care into that position. I have no doubt that she will bring the same passion to this new position.”
Aslin added that Southeast has a great Home Care department “that I would put up against any other in the state in terms of quality of staff and quality of care provided. Vickie joins three great individuals who will help her lead Home Care – Kimra Beckett, Home Health Nurse Manager; Gary Tinsley, Hospice Nurse Manager; and Barb Gleason, Building Blocks (Nurse Family Partnership) Nurse Manager.”
Vickie initially began employment at Southeast Hospital as a Pharmacy tech in the 1980s. Her career led her to work in Oncology, Employee Health, Medical Telemetry, Home Health and Hospice in staff positions. She became the nurse manager of Hospice in 1996 and left that position for a few months in 2012, returning as a staff nurse in March of this year.
Vickie attended the LPN program at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center. She received a diploma in nursing from the Southeast Missouri Hospital College of Nursing and Health Sciences and her bachelor of science degree in nursing at Southeast Missouri State University. She holds a master’s degree in nursing from Webster University in St. Louis.
She is nationally certified as a Hospice and Palliative Care nurse and also is a certified Education for Providers on End of Life Care and End of Life Education for the Nurse Assistant trainer. Vickie has served on the Missouri Hospice and Palliative Care Board of Directors.
