HealthPoint Fitness Offers Enrollment Special with Donation to Holiday Food Drive

It’s a December to “give and receive” at HealthPoint Fitness. Join this month for a $10 enrollment fee and receive a stylish Under Armour® long-sleeve t-shirt when you donate canned goods to our holiday food drive

Membership includes access to both Cape and Jackson HealthPoint facilities, three fitness assessments with our HealthPoint trainers and a nutritional consultation with a registered dietitian for everyone in the family.

SoutheastHEALTH Offers Starting Point Program for Weight Management

Do you want to better manage your weight and improve your health? SoutheastHEALTH’s Starting Point program at HealthPoint Fitness can help.

Starting Point is a medically supervised, weight-management program which emphasizes nutrition and fitness.

You can learn more about this program at two free, informational sessions on Thursday, Dec. 12, and Tuesday, Dec. 17, at HealthPoint – Cape. The first session will be held at 7 p.m. and the second at 6 p.m. Classes will begin in early January, just in time to help you keep your New Year’s resolution.

Kids Bee Fit Classes Serve Up Fitness Fun in Cape, Jackson

It’s never too early to shape up. HealthPoint Fitness offers Kids Bee Fit classes for children, ages 2 to 6.

The classes are held on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. and Fridays at 10:15 a.m. at HealthPoint in Jackson, and on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:15 a.m. at HealthPoint – Cape.

Sibling Class Helps Children Prepare for New Family Member

Southeast Hospital’s Sibling Class will be held on Monday, Dec. 16, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Hospital’s Harrison Room.

This class is designed to help children prepare, in a positive way, for the addition of a new family member. The class is geared toward children, ages 3 to 9. Class size is limited.

Southeast Journeys Cancer Support Group to Focus on ‘Celebrating Life’

Southeast Journeys Cancer Support Group will focus on “Celebrating Life during the Cancer Journey” at its meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Unity Room at the Southeast Cancer Center.

Scott Givens, MPA, ATC, CSCS, HFI, manager of Southeast HealthPoint Fitness, will make the presentation. The support group covers educational topics from the American Cancer Society’s “I Can Cope” series.

The meeting includes a question and answer session, and also offers care, support and encouragement for those battling cancer and their families/caregivers. To learn more, call 573-519-4754.

HealthPoint Fitness Offers Kids Yoga to Improve Children’s Health

Sign up your child for Kids Yoga at HealthPoint Fitness. It’s a safe, fun, challenging and healthful activity.

Kids Yoga will help strengthen growing bodies, stretch muscles and improve balance and coordination. The class will be held on Tuesdays at HealthPoint – Jackson, beginning on Jan. 7, and on Wednesdays at HealthPoint – Cape, beginning Jan. 8.

Tuesday sessions will be held from 5:30 to 6 p.m.; Wednesday sessions will be held from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Southeast Hospital to Deliver Childbirth Preparation Class

Southeast Hospital’s Childbirth Preparation class helps the first-time mother and support person prepare for delivery.

The class will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, from 8 a.m. to noon in the Hospital’s Harrison Room. The class also is available online at SEhealth.org/ChildbirthClass. The session addresses the emotional and physical changes of pregnancy, the normal labor process, vaginal and cesarean delivery, coping techniques for natural labor and pain control options.
