HealthPoint Fitness Offers March Enrollment Special

SportsCare Provides Free Injury Screenings

Southeast SportsCare provides free injury screenings at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau. The screenings, performed by certified athletic trainers, are offered Monday mornings from 7 to 9 a.m. No appointment is necessary. The screenings are open to everyone, regardless of age and athletic ability. “We have seen everything from a young boy who sprained his toe on the playground to an elderly woman with wrist pain from working in her garden over the weekend,” says SportsCare Field Representative Katie Niles. Kids Bee Fit Classes Serve Up Fitness Fun in Cape, Jackson

It’s never too early to shape up. HealthPoint Fitness offers Kids Bee Fit classes for children, ages 2 to 6.
The classes are held on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. and Fridays at 10:15 a.m. at HealthPoint in Jackson, and on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:15 a.m. at HealthPoint – Cape. Children play musical games, dance and enjoy other activities. No registration is required. The cost is $2.50 per child. Sign Up Saturday Set for Saturday, March 8

Parents can register their children for summer sports, classes and other activities at Sign Up Saturday® on March 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Osage Centre in Cape Girardeau. Presented by SoutheastHEALTH and the city of Cape Girardeau’s Parks and Recreation Department, the free-admission event will feature a fun-filled, family health expo, including games and health assessments. Free t-shirts will be given to the first 200 kids at the event. Parents also may sign up their children for the SafeAssured™ ID program. The program provides identification information to help police in the event a child is lost or missing.

SoutheastHEALTH Provides Support Group for Weight-Loss Surgery Patients

Have you undergone or are you considering bariatric weight-loss surgery? If so, SoutheastHEALTH’s Bariatric Support Group can help. The group meets monthly. The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 15, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau. The free sessions cover a variety of topics including meal planning and nutrition, behavior change and motivation, and exercise and fitness. St. Pat’s Dinner Dance to Benefit Relay for Life, We Can Weekend

Bring your pot o’ gold to the St. Pat’s Dinner Dance on Saturday, March 15, at the Cape Girardeau Eagles Hall, 321 N. Spring.
Proceeds benefit Relay for Life and We Can Weekend, the annual retreat for cancer patients and their families.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner starts at 7 p.m. there will be a silent auction and cash bar. Live music will be provided by Pearl River. Tickets cost $20 per person. Healthy Cooking Class Showcases Irish Dishes

The Irish have a wonderful appreciation for fresh ingredients and a very unpretentious attitude toward food.
The Healthy Cooking class at Southeast HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau on St. Patrick’s Day will demonstrate that Irish cooking involves more than corned beef and cabbage. HealthPoint Nutritional Services Coordinator Raina Childers, MS, RD, LD, will show you healthy Irish cooking on Monday, March 17, from 6 to 7:15 p.m.
Cost is $3 for HealthPoint members and $5 for non-members. Call 573-986-4440 to register.

HealthPoint Fitness to Host Shamrock 360 Indoor Triathlon

The fifth annual Shamrock 360 Indoor Triathlon will be held on Saturday, March 22, at Southeast HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau. The competition will consist of 10 minutes of swimming, 30 minutes of cycling on stationary bikes and 20 minutes of running on treadmills. The first wave of four participants will start at 8 a.m., with a new wave scheduled to start every 15 minutes.
