SoutheastHEALTH has announced its first Medical Laboratory Scientist Scholarship Award. This award is named in honor of Ann Green, who established the Medical Laboratory Science program at Southeast’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 1999.
Scholarship winner Margot Hart of Cape Girardeau received a full tuition scholarship valued at $18,000. In addition, two $500 awards were given to Bradley Whalen of Virden, Ill., and Kassandra Wolk of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, students were required to submit an essay, current transcripts and a recommendation from his or her preceptor.
“I am deeply honored that the scholarship carries my name,” Green said. “Medical laboratory science is a rewarding profession, continually presenting new opportunities to learn and be challenged by new developments in laboratory medicine and health science.”
