HealthPoint Fitness Offers ‘Ten for Ten’ August Enrollment Special

HealthPoint Fitness to Hold Heart Smart Screenings in Cape, Jackson

Southeast HealthPoint Fitness will hold Heart Smart screenings on Thursday, Aug.2, from 7 to 9 a.m. at both its Cape Girardeau and Jackson locations. No appointment is needed.

Free blood pressure screenings will be offered. Glucose test will cost $5 and a lipid profile screening will cost $22.50. The glucose test requires a two-hour fast while a 10-hour fast is required to check HDL, LDL and triglyceride levels.

Southeast Hospital Ranks Among Nation’s Best Regional Hospitals

Southeast Hospital ranks as one of the nation’s Best Regional Hospitals for 2012-2013, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Southeast is one of only 16 metro and non-metro hospitals in Missouri – and the only one in the southeast Missouri region – to be recognized by the magazine. Southeast ranks 10th in the state, along with six others, for being high performing in one of 16 medical specialties.

Southeast Hospital was lauded as “high performing” in urology for the second year in a row. Southeast ranks as one of only 326 hospitals in the nation to score high marks for urological care for 2012-2013

SportsCare Seminar to Focus on ‘What Women REALLY Need to Know About Football’

Are you ready for some football? Southeast SportsCare will host a fun, informative seminar, “What Women REALLY Need to Know about Football” on Thursday, Aug. 23, at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau.

This seminar will instruct women who want to learn more about the game of football. It will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at 2126 Independence.

Seminar topics will include the X’s and O’s of football, coach’s perspective, official’s explanation of penalties and tailgate foods. It also will include a discussion with physician and trainers regarding injuries, prevention, treatment and player hydration.

Southeast Weight Management Center to Hold Free Session on Weight-Loss Programs

The Southeast Weight Management Center will hold an informational session about its weight-loss programs. The session will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at HealthPoint in Cape Girardeau.

The Center offers both surgical and non-surgical options as well as a dedicated team of physicians, nurses, dietitians, health educators and fitness trainers that helps make losing weight a rewarding and healthy experience.

Healthy Cooking: Beat the Heat Cooking!

Southeast Missouri can get warm and muggy during August. A cool house and a healthy meal still can go together.

Join HealthPoint Nutritional Services Coordinator Raina Childers, MS, RD, LD, on Monday, Aug. 20, for the Healthy Cooking class to sample recipes that keep the thermometer on “chill.” The class will be held at HealthPoint – Cape from 6 to 7:15 p.m.
