SoutheastHEALTH based in Cape Girardeau and Advanced Healthcare Management Services, LLC, based in Poplar Bluff, have formed a new partnership, effective January 1.
Under the agreement, SoutheastHEALTH has purchased all of the physical assets and assumed management responsibilities for Advanced’s entities which include:
Advanced Healthcare Medical Center, a 25-bed critical access hospital located in Elllington, Mo.;
rural healthcare clinics in the southeast Missouri communities of Ellington, Poplar Bluff, Doniphan and Van Buren;
a 35,000 square foot medical office building in Poplar Bluff that includes Family Practice, Podiatry, radiology services, a retail pharmacy, a medical spa and Advanced’s centralized business office;
and a Home Health agency based in Ellington that serves Reynolds, Ripley, Shannon and Butler counties and portions of Dent, Iron, Madison, Wayne and Carter counties.
Advanced’s Chief Executive Officer Paula Harris, said the organization employs 139 people, including affiliations with 11 physicians and four nurse practitioners.
Advanced’s primary service area – Butler, Carter, Reynolds and Ripley counties - has a total population of approximately 70,000 residents.
“We’re very pleased with the partnership,” Harris said. “Area residents will be assured of an ongoing continuum of care and we are working together to develop plans for enhancements in healthcare in the communities we serve.”
SoutheastHEALTH Executive Vice President of Planning and Business Development Jim Limbaugh added those plans include opening an outpatient surgery center at the Poplar Bluff location, upgrades in technology and other renovations at the Ellington hospital.
“Southeast’s newest partnership is consistent with our continued growth and strong regional presence,” Limbaugh said. “We look forward to providing residents excellent healthcare, at an affordable cost, close to home. We are excited about the many opportunities this partnership holds.”
In 2010, SoutheastHEALTH assumed management responsibilities for Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan, Mo. On January 1, 2013, Southeast officially began its partnership and management agreement with Dexter Hospital, LLC, in Dexter, Mo.
SoutheastHEALTH President and CEO Wayne Smith said the addition of the newest partnerships with Advanced and Missouri Southern Healthcare brings the total number of team members in the SoutheastHEALTH system to approximately 2,900. “This clearly defines SoutheastHEALTH as the largest regional provider of healthcare and the largest employer of healthcare professionals in our region. We continue in our exploration of additional partnerships.”
