SoutheastHEALTH Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Sly Moore has announced that Lauren Thomas has been promoted to the position of Laboratory Director. Thomas succeeds Norman Anderson, who later this month will complete a distinguished, 45-year career with Southeast.
Thomas began her career at Southeast in 2000 as a phlebotomist and has held technologist, supervisor and manager positions since that time. “Thus far in her career at Southeast, Lauren has made many positive contributions and has used her certification in Six Sigma and LEAN management strategies to improve patient satisfaction and operational processes in the Lab,” Moore said. She added that Thomas completed a vigorous interview process with staff, supervisors, potential peers and physicians and was strongly supported by all groups.
Thomas said she is looking forward to this new opportunity. “Our Laboratory has many ongoing projects that will be beneficial in providing continued high-quality testing and results. We are working to standardize lab results which will benefit our patients across the SoutheastHEALTH system.”
A graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a B.S. degree in Medical Technology and a dual minor in Biology and Chemistry, Thomas also holds a master’s of science degree in Health Care Management from Kaplan University.
Thomas’ certifications include Medical Technologist (American Society for Clinical Pathology), LEAN and Six Sigma Green Belt. She also is a member of the Med Assets Laboratory Advisory Committee and participates in the Missouri State Laboratory Response Network.
