Support Groups

Bariatric Support Group
SoutheastHEALTH is offering a special support group for patients who have undergone or are considering bariatric weight-loss surgery. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss issues, share successes and trade helpful hints in an overall supportive environment. The group meets on the 3rd Saturday of every month and is facilitated by Raina Childers, MS, RD, LD, and Mary Etta Dunaway, RD, LD, CDE, registered dietitians with SoutheastHEALTH. Diabetes Self-Management Support Group
This group meets the second Tuesday of the month from 1:00-2:00 PM in the Diabetes Center. For more information or to register, call 573-339-0121.

Grief Support Groups
These groups offer a safe place where adults come together to share their grief following the death of a loved one.  Trained facilitators offer educational programs and an opportunity to share and heal. The group offers participants understanding, support and hope.   Meetings are the Third Wednesday of each month at 1:00 PM at HealthPoint Plaza in Cape Girardeau, MO. Journeys is an opportunity for patients and/or their caregivers to learn about cancer. Journeys also provides an opportunity for patients and/or caregivers to meet, talk and network with others who have been affected by cancer.

Mended Hearts Club
Mended Hearts is a national, non-profit service organization designed to provide continuing education and emotional support for heart patients and their families. SHARE Grief Support Group
This support group, for parents who have lost children due to miscarriage, still birth, neonatal death and ectopic pregnancy. Group meets during Grief Support Group meeting every third Wednesday of each month at 1:00 PM at HealthPoint Fitness in Cape. United Ostomy Association
This group meets the second Wednesday of each month at 4:30 PM, except January and February, in the Harrison Room at Southeast Hospital. A volunteer organization, UOA’s goal is to reduce the practical and emotional burdens of those who have undergone ostomy surgery so they may function as fully as possible socially and physically.
