Welcome Dr. Kali Francis
July 09, 2014
As a young child, Dr. Kali Francis remembers visiting her grandfather, O.D. Niswonger, in his office at Southeast Hospital where he was the administrator.
“He would walk me down the hall to the nursery to see the babies,” she fondly recalls.
Dr. Francis, who grew up near Gordonville, Mo., and attended Jackson High School, began her own career in medicine last week as a pediatrician with Southeast Pediatrics.
Recently married, she and her husband Chris have bought rural acreage with a pond near Gordonville where they plan to build a home. Both she and her husband love the outdoors. “We both enjoy bass fishing,” Dr. Francis says.
She says she likes providing medical care to children. “I like to see the children grow up and to form a relationship with them. I see them when they are sick, but a lot of times I also see them when they are well,” Dr. Francis notes.
“Being from this area, I also get to see familiar faces that I grew up with. It is fun to see how they are doing and watch their children grow up as well,” she adds.
Dr. Francis received her medical degree (MD) from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine. She completed a residency in pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences/Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Francis says she’s glad to be home again. “My family is here, which really drew me back to the area. I am just very thankful to be able to give back and support the community where I grew up.”
