Southeast Hospital, Home Health and Hospice once again have earned The Joint Commission
’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for accreditation for their commitment to provide the highest standards of patient care.
SoutheastHEALTH President and CEO Ken Bateman says the national accreditation is important to healthcare consumers because it is “the gold standard in healthcare.”
Five Joint Commission surveyors, who are specially trained healthcare professionals, reviewed Southeast Hospital’s operations – everything from environment of care and infection prevention to medication and patient safety – over the course of five days in January.
“Their thorough evaluation found that we meet the Commission’s rigorous performance standards in delivering quality, safe care,” Bateman notes. “Our reaccreditation is proof of an organizational-wide commitment to meeting these standards.”
The reaccreditation, which extends for three years, strongly reflects the dedication of Southeast’s hardworking employees and physicians, Bateman says.
John Thompson, who chairs the SoutheastHEALTH System Board of Directors, says the accreditation demonstrates “our culture of caring.”
Thompson adds, “This is testimony to the work ethic and compassionate attitude our employees bring with them to work every day.”
Established in 1951, The Joint Commission accredits more than 20,000 healthcare organizations, including more than 4,000 hospitals.
Thompson says, “The Joint Commission continually improves healthcare by setting the highest standards for healthcare quality throughout the world.”
