Run for Ragan
Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in the 5th Annual Run for Ragan on Saturday, September 30th. The 5 and 8K event commemorates the life of Ragan Neilson, a Cape Girardeau native and daughter of Dr. Robert and Barb Ward, who lost her life to breast cancer. All proceeds from the race help the SoutheastHEALTH Foundation’s Cancer Care Fund assist local women in their fight against breast cancer.
In addition to the 5 and 8K races, there was a 1 one mile Memorial Walk and Kids Fun Run. This year, kids, up to age 12, who participated in the 1 Mile Fun Run, received a free small Kona Ice snow cone and other fun surprises.
This year’s event kicked off SoutheastHEALTH’s Cancer awareness campaign called “Champions for the Cause”. The goal of this campaign is to increase awareness of resources available right here in the region for the prevention and treatment of ALL cancers.
