SoutheastHEALTH Welcomes Gina Leath as new Chief Nursing Officer

SoutheastHEALTH has announced the appointment of Gina Leath, RN, MSN, NE-BC, CCRN-K, as Chief Nursing Officer. She comes to Southeast with a proven record in facilitating change to support organizational, operating, service, quality and financial objectives, all with patient centered care and patient experience top of mind.
Leath’s most recent role was Chief Nursing Officer for Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville, TN, part of the Regional Tennova network and the flagship hospital for the cardiovascular program, cardiac research, bariatric surgery and neurosurgery service lines.
Chief Operating Officer Dr. Maria Sudak, said Leath has over nine years of nurse executive leadership and 21 years of progressive management experience in cardiac and critical care services. “Gina is a strong leader with many outstanding accomplishments. These include improved patient experience and staff engagement, development of a Patient Family Advisory Council, implementation of a nurse residency program and several successful certification journeys that include The Joint Commission, stroke and chest pain designations along with a current journey toward trauma designation,” Sudak noted. “We are honored that Gina chose to join our SoutheastHEALTH team and look forward to many additional successes together.”
Leath’s key areas of focus include positioning nursing staff for the opportunities that the future holds and further enhancing care by taking active roles for the health and well-being of patients. “Our dedicated staff of nurses is recognized for their contributions toward the delivery of high quality care,” Leath noted. “My charge is to evolve nurses to be leaders throughout the SoutheastHEALTH system, from the bedside to the boardroom as they work as full partners with other healthcare professionals.”
Leath holds a Master of Science in Nursing: Leadership and Management, from Western Governor’s University in Salt Lake City, UT. Her professional affiliations include the American Organization of Nurse Leaders, the American Nurses Association and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
