The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services requires hospitals to make public a comprehensive list of charges for each inpatient and outpatient service or item provided by the hospital, also known as a chargemaster. Southeast Hospital has made available a copy of its standard charges in a machine-readable format in the link below. This requirement is intended to help patients understand what their potential financial liability might be for services they obtain at the hospital, and to enable patients to compare charges for similar services across hospitals. However, a hospital chargemaster is lengthy and complex and is not a helpful tool for patients to estimate what healthcare services are going to cost them out of their own pocket.
