Spiritual Care
Southeast Hospital Pastoral Care helps our patients get in touch with spiritual and personal resources needed to maintain a sense of well-being, faith and hope.
Our chaplains respect our patients' dignity and privacy and we do not impose our beliefs or religious practices.
Providing Special Needs and Consultations
We are caring listeners who have been trained to help with the special needs that often develop within the hospital setting. We work with the healthcare team so that spiritual needs as well as medical needs are addressed.
The Pastoral Care staff is also available for consultation on issues such as living wills and advance directives.
Hospital Chapel Offers Peaceful Atmosphere
The chapel, located on the first floor of Southeast Hospital near the Surgical Waiting Room, is open around the clock. All faiths are welcome to visit the chapel for reflection, prayer and spiritual renewal.
Handcrafted art glass windows provide an atmosphere of peaceful meditation while creating a feeling of upward movement as meditations and prayers are offered. The windows, designed by artisans at Hopcroft Stained Glass Studios in Kansas City, Missouri, express ecumenical messages of creation, nature, life and the human spirit.
Their design also depicts seedpods and fruits, symbols of the hope of refreshment and new life in the midst of turmoil. Graceful doves incorporated in the art glass window serve as symbols of a dynamic mood and the spirit of life and peace.
