Radiology Extern Program

SoutheastHEALTH offers radiology students the opportunity to participate in our Radiology Extern Program. The program is designed for students who would like to advance their imaging skills by working hands-on in a fast-paced hospital environment. Students who are currently enrolled in their first year of a radiology program are eligible to apply.

As hospital employees, externs rotate through departments as they learn and apply imaging skills including patient positioning, assessment, transfer, radiation protection, and anatomy. Externs will also apply medical terminology and computer skills, while working in clerical and transport positions for multiple departments. Flexible scheduling allows externs to work in this capacity while keeping collegiate commitments.

Who Is Eligible?

Second-year radiology students who are enrolled in an accredited radiography program and who are current in Basic Life Support for healthcare providers (students should provide a copy of CPR card at time of orientation).

Positions are limited, so early application is recommended.
