The Benefits of a Nurse Navigator
A nurse navigator serves as a primary source of information for cancer patients throughout their cancer journey. Functioning as a patient advocate, a nurse navigator:
- Helps identify obstacles to care and connects patients with Cancer Center team members or area resources specific to their needs
- Coordinates provider appointments as requested
- Facilitates access to timely, comprehensive and multidisciplinary care
- Provides a supportive, educational environment which enables patients to maintain an active role in their care
