Growing up, Dr. Duxbury loved working with his hands, both as a professional guitarist and in commercial construction. When he applied for medical school, it was with the intent to become an orthopedic surgeon.
He believes that pediatric and adolescent patients are the best in the world and he enjoys seeing both how motivated they are how much fun they are. He sees a wide variety of patients and likes to build relationships with families that last for years. Dr. Duxbury specializes in scoliosis. He absolutely believes pediatric orthopedic patients should not have to travel to metropolitan areas to get the great care they deserve.
In his spare time, Dr. Duxbury enjoys snowboarding, road cycling and travel. He also enjoys music and playing his guitars.
Summertime is fun time, but parents need to know how to help protect their children from orthopedic injuries and what to do should an injury occur. Dr. Shawn Duxbury of Southeast Orthopedics and Sports Medicine has more.
Almost 3 million cases of scoliosis appear in the United States every year. Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Shawn Duxbury, MD talks about how to detect and correct this condition early.
