Infectious Diseases

Many infectious diseases are mild—think of the common cold. But others can be more serious and their treatments very complex. When that happens, you can count on the infectious disease experts at SoutheastHEALTH.

Our Infectious Disease Providers

Our board certified providers specialize in infectious diseases caused by bacteria, fungi and viruses. These diseases can be passed from person to person or spread through other means, such as insect bites or ingesting contaminated food.

The team diagnoses and treats a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Bone and joint infections
  • COVID-19
  • Pneumonia
  • Sexually transmitted infections
  • Tuberculosis

Our providers see patients in our infectious disease outpatient clinic. They also see patients who are admitted to Southeast Hospital.

No matter where you receive treatment at SoutheastHEALTH, you will receive high-quality care from our friendly, helpful and accessible team.

What to Expect at Our Infectious Disease Clinic

In our infectious disease clinic, your first visit will include a review of your medical history and a physical exam. The provider will discuss the results with you and recommend the best course of action.

For example, some infectious diseases may be treated with antibiotics, antiviral medicines or intravenous fluids.

Travel Medicine Services

Will you be visiting another country? In addition to caring for infectious diseases, our clinic can help you with your future travel needs.

Certain diseases are more common in some parts of the world. Vaccines can help protect you from these diseases. Our clinic can provide you the immunizations you need as well as help you understand safe travel recommendations.

Make an Appointment with an Infectious Disease Doctor

You will need a medical referral to see an infectious disease specialist in our clinic. Your doctor can fax a completed referral form (along with requested documents) to 573.519.4680. Someone from our clinic will then contact you to schedule a visit.
