Midwifery Services
SoutheastHEALTH continues to expand women's health services by offering nurse-midwifery care to women in the region. You can trust that our midwives are graduate-prepared advanced practice registered nurses who are board certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
Midwives work side-by-side with obstetricians, gynecologists, neonatologists and maternal-fetal medicine physicians to ensure patients will have the full spectrum of care when needed. All midwife-assisted deliveries occur at Southeast Hospital, where patients are close to the latest technology and state-of-the art equipment needed for labor and delivery.
SoutheastHEALTH nurse-midwives also provide important health services for women at all stages of their lives. Certified nurse-midwives are qualified to diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medication and manage patient care.

Personalized Pregnancy Experience
Many women choose midwives because they desire a personalized, natural approach to pregnancy and delivery. Midwives specialize in forming a strong relationship with patients, working with you to learn and value your specific needs and preferences. You can be assured that our midwives will provide the information and support you need to make the best decisions for you and your baby.
Certified midwives are experts in medication-free labor and delivery, but also offer access to pain medication if you prefer. They are trained to recognize and manage problems early. If the birthing process becomes complicated, the entire OB team at Southeast Hospital is available to offer immediate assistance. Even in the event that a cesarean section is required, the midwife will remain with you to guide you through the process.
