Inpatient Rehab Therapies
Southeast Hospital provides comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation services.
Physical therapy focuses on the patient’s range of motion, strength, balance and pain level to improve the patient’s functional mobility. Patient mobility includes the areas of ambulation, transfers and bed mobility. These activities of daily living are required for the patient to return home safely.
Occupational therapy is the use of treatments to develop and recover the daily living and work skills of people with a physical, mental or developmental condition. Simple skills such as showering, dressing, grooming and household tasks can become difficult after a debilitating disease, illness, accident or neurological condition.
Occupational therapy interventions focus on:
- Adapting the environment
- Modifying the task
- Teaching the skill
- Educating patients and their families to increase participation in and performance of daily activities
Speech therapy focuses on swallowing and feeding to assure the patient is able to meet nutritional needs safely. In addition, speech therapy focuses on communication skills so that the patient is able to effectively express wants and needs and understand information in the environment. Some patients benefit from therapy that focuses on cognitive processes that will be used in the home and work environment.
