Sleep Center

Are you having trouble getting a good night's rest? We can help.

SoutheastHEALTH's Sleep Diagnostic Center offers a full range of services to help your provider diagnose and treat a sleep disorder so you can get the rest you need to live a healthy and productive life.

A Nationally Accredited Sleep Lab

SoutheastHEALTH's sleep lab is designed with your comfort in mind. Three of the four rooms have queen-size beds, carpeting and TV. One room is equipped for adults or children with special needs.

American Academy of Sleep MedicineWe are an accredited member center of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. We use the latest sleep diagnostic software technology to give you the most accurate diagnosis possible. Some of the disorders we diagnose are insomnia, snoring and sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, shift-work disorder, and narcolepsy.

We conduct sleep tests weekdays on both adults and children ages 5 years and older. Sleep studies can be performed day and night. We change our schedule each week to accommodate people with different work schedules.

Experienced Sleep Specialists

Our sleep lab is staffed by dual-credentialed, registered sleep technicians who are also registered respiratory therapists.

The sleep studies our staff performs are interpreted by sleep doctors who are board certified in sleep medicine. They include providers in our Southeast Pulmonology clinic, who treat many types of sleep disorders. In fact, many of our patients are referred to our sleep center after receiving an evaluation in our pulmonology clinic.

What to Expect During a Sleep Study

When you arrive at our sleep lab, you will be greeted by our friendly and compassionate staff. We will explain what to expect during and after your sleep test.

When you are ready to go to sleep, your study will begin.

You will be in a bed for the study. Sensors placed on your body will monitor such factors as your blood oxygen levels, breathing patterns, and brain and heart activity while you sleep.

When your sleep study is finished, you can shower and dress in our facility and go directly to your daily routine.

Home Sleep Studies for Sleep Apnea

We offer an optional take-home test to check for sleep apnea in select patients. Sleep apnea causes loud snoring and brief breathing pauses during sleep.

With this test, you take a portable monitor home to wear while you sleep. You wear the device that night and return it the next day. Our sleep staff will teach you to use the monitor.

Home sleep apnea testing generally may be an option for people who are healthy and at increased risk for moderate to severe sleep apnea. The sleep doctor who evaluates you can tell you if home testing is an option.

After Your Sleep Study

Regardless of whether you have a home test or a sleep study in our lab, a board certified doctor specializing in sleep medicine will review your results. This doctor will then recommend a treatment plan that will meet your needs.

Sleep disorder treatments can include CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) therapy, lifestyle changes and medications.

Talk to Your Doctor About Your Sleep Issues

Most sleep studies are covered by private insurance, Medicaid and Medicare. A referral is required. Tell your provider if you're having trouble sleeping.
