SheilaConley staffspotlightWhen Sheila Conley answers the telephone at HealthPoint Fitness in Jackson, you can hear the smile in her voice.

When HealthPoint members come into the Jackson facility, Sheila Conley greets them with a warm, in person, smile.

A team member at HealthPoint Jackson for 23 years, Sheila is the Front Desk Lead. In her role, she wears many hats, including writing HealthPoint member contracts, answering phones, checking in members, doing purchase orders and deposits, front desk and child care staff scheduling, to name a few.

Sheila says after working for a busy ophthalmologist, often with late hours, “I needed a change of pace. I had little ones and wanted a daytime job, so I came in, applied, and was hired – at that time by Debbie Leoni.” Sheila started out as a child care worker, then moved to the front desk as a clerk. She has been in her present role about 12 years.

“My daily goal is to always try to make whoever walks in the door feel welcome,” she says. “I have a little prayer I say every morning. I ask God to give me a smile on my face so I can make someone else smile.”

Getting to know HealthPoint members is important to Sheila. “There have been a lot of members I’ve gotten really close to, like the late Will and Thelma Wade. They were like grandparents to us.”

Sheila believes fitness is a very big part of someone’s life. “When someone has a goal, I love to encourage them. It’s great to see them succeed and meet their goals.”

A resident of Jackson, Sheila and her husband Guy have a son, Austin (Madeline) and a daughter, Madison (Dustin) and a dog named Rex.

Only one thing is missing when it comes to her job, Sheila says. “I’m normally a huge hugger. We can’t do that right now, but I hope ‘Sheila hugs’ can come back soon!
